Course Overview
The “How to Use Figma” course teaches you Figma within Figma. These hands-on lessons creating slides, websites and apps teaching the functionality of Figma:
LEVEL 0
Get Familiar with Figma interface
Before jumping into real-world examples, the course first explains each part of Figma’s interface to get you oriented within the app. Once this level is complete, you will know where to click to create new design elements, where to look at different pages in your design file, where to see your design layers and where to style your designs.
LEVEL 1
How to add design elements by making a cover slide
Next, the course tasks you with designing a cover slide for a presentation, a common ask for designers. In this lesson you learn how to create all the fundamental design elements used in Figma.
LEVEL 2
How to use Figma for wireframes
In this level, you create a wireframe and then mocking up a simple landing page for a tech product. In the process you learn about working with existing designs, styling, and auto layout.
LEVEL 3
How to use Figma to design a website
This level is where you build out your simple landing page to be more complex. You learn how to set up auto layout from scratch and set up multiple sections for a website.
LEVEL 4
How to change and create components
This level is where you learn how to change and create Figma components, this is a more advanced skill used by product design teams to maintain design systems. This level is a bit harder but don’t worry, each challenge has tips.
LEVEL 5
How to use Figma to design an app
In this level, you get to design some app screens from scratch using all the knowledge you have gain so far.
LEVEL 6
How to prototype in Figma
In the final level, you create a clickable prototype and animate interactions for the screens from level 5. Creating prototypes in Figma is a great way to help present app designs and show how users will interact with your designs.

What is Figma?
Figma is a collaborative interface design tool. What that means it is a tool designed primarily to design user interfaces for websites and apps. It is a great way to hand off web and app designs to developers. As Figma has gotten more features it is now also used for slide design, graphic design, and collaborative work (FigJam) as well.
What is Figma used for?
Figma lets you design and set up prototypes pixel perfect mock ups of websites and apps to iterate on based on feedback and then when complete, hand off to developers. What Figma does not do is let you create a final functioning website or app for end users to use.
